Understand the requirement

MTCTE applies to notified telecom equipment and assesses the relevant Essential Requirements prescribed by TEC. Whether equipment is covered depends on its category and the applicable notifications, not merely on having a network port or a telecom-related name. The correct equipment family and assessment scope should be established at the beginning.

A practical preparation file brings together interface details, supported functions and the differences between variants. We help align that information with the evidence requested for the project, identify missing reports and coordinate questions with the relevant testing participants. Separate wireless or product-safety obligations are flagged for review rather than assumed to be included in one approval.

Who this service is for

  • Telecom and networking equipment manufacturers
  • Importers of notified telecom equipment
  • Overseas OEMs preparing an Indian-market launch

Information to have ready

This is a starting checklist, not a fixed submission list. The documents required depend on your product, business role and applicable route.

  • Indicative: applicant and manufacturer identity records
  • Equipment datasheet and interface descriptions
  • Model and hardware-variant comparison
  • Applicable test reports and technical declarations
  • Authorisation, instructions and label information where required

Frequently asked questions

Does all electronic equipment need MTCTE certification?

No. The notified equipment scope and applicable requirements must be reviewed for the actual product.

Does TEC approval replace WPC or BIS requirements?

Not automatically. Different approvals may address different aspects of the same equipment and need separate assessment.

Can variants be assumed to share the same coverage?

No. Hardware, interface and functional differences should be disclosed and reviewed against the applicable model-grouping conditions.

Important to know

Notifications, Essential Requirements and report-acceptance conditions are product-specific and can change. TEC retains the certification decision.
