Understand the requirement
WPC-ETA addresses relevant radio equipment operating in licence-exempt frequency bands permitted in India. Eligibility for the self-declaration route depends on the equipment and applicable conditions; it is not a blanket permission for every wireless device. Some equipment categories follow a different route or need additional permissions.
Our review brings together the information often held separately by the brand, module supplier and finished-product manufacturer. We help list the radio interfaces, establish which test evidence relates to each configuration and record the questions that need technical clarification. The aim is a coherent application file, not an assumption that a wireless logo or overseas approval is sufficient.
Who this service is for
- Wireless product manufacturers
- Importers of connected equipment
- Brands using Wi-Fi or Bluetooth modules
- Engineering teams changing radio configurations
How Rombo can support you
Radio scope review
Organise operating bands, power details and product functions for review against the applicable route.
RF evidence checks
Compare available RF reports with the declared product and module configuration to flag missing information.
Applicant preparation
Help assemble technical descriptions and applicant or representative records for the submission.
Approval coordination
Track application questions and maintain a clear record of the approved equipment identity.
From first discussion to next steps
1. List radio functions
Identify every transmitter, module and intended operating configuration.
2. Check the route
Review eligibility and flag equipment needing separate permission checks.
3. Prepare the file
Align reports, model information and applicant documents.
4. Record the outcome
Retain approval records and review changes before using a different configuration.
Information to have ready
This is a starting checklist, not a fixed submission list. The documents required depend on your product, business role and applicable route.
- Indicative: applicant and authorised representative details
- Product datasheet and model identification
- Radio-module and operating-frequency information
- Applicable RF test reports
- Manufacturer authorisation and product photographs
Frequently asked questions
Does an overseas wireless approval replace WPC-ETA?
Do not assume equivalence. Indian frequency conditions and the applicable WPC route must be checked for the product.
Can every wireless product use self-declaration?
No. DoT guidance identifies exclusions, including certain specialised equipment. The product must be assessed against the route conditions.
Does ETA cover every other product approval?
No. BIS, telecom, import or other requirements may need separate review depending on the equipment.
Important to know
An ETA is not a general spectrum licence or a substitute for all import permissions. Rombo supports preparation; WPC/DoT governs the approval.
