Understand the requirement
The ISI Mark is linked to a BIS licence for a defined product and manufacturing scope. Whether certification is compulsory depends on the applicable Quality Control Order and its conditions. A product name alone is not enough to decide the route: its construction, intended use and manufacturing location matter.
Our work begins with the factory as it operates today. We help connect specifications, incoming material checks, production controls and test records so the application reflects a consistent product. Where gaps are identified, we organise a practical action list with your team before testing or an assessment is scheduled.

Information to have ready
This is a starting checklist, not a fixed submission list. The documents required depend on your product, business role and applicable route.
- Indicative: factory identity and manufacturing address documents
- Product specifications, drawings and variant list
- Manufacturing flow and equipment details
- Testing equipment and calibration records
- Available test reports and quality-control records
Frequently asked questions
Does every Indian product need an ISI licence?
No. Applicability must be checked against the product standard, current Quality Control Orders and any relevant conditions or exemptions.
Can a general quality certificate replace product certification?
A management-system certificate and a product licence address different scopes. Share your existing certificates so their relevance can be assessed.
Does Rombo issue the BIS licence?
No. BIS evaluates the application and grants the licence. Rombo provides preparation and coordination support.
Important to know
The final checklist depends on the product standard and applicable BIS procedure. Certification scope and use of the ISI Mark remain subject to BIS approval.
